Project Overview: Glassware Design with Ginger and Finch

Objective: Designed a unique range of glasses targeting specific markets—whiskey glasses for men, single-pour spirits for women, and wine glasses. Chose a fluted optic design for a cohesive look, with ergonomic shapes and tailored sizes to enhance beverage enjoyment.

My Role: Developed initial design concepts, created detailed illustrations, and led the prototyping process. Collaborated closely with the client to refine designs based on material characteristics and ergonomic feedback.

Key Deliverables:

  • Customized design proposals and cost-effective solutions.
  • Detailed illustrations and iterative prototypes.
  • Finalized designs balancing aesthetics and production feasibility.

Outcome: The project demonstrated successful design and development processes, though local production costs ultimately impacted market viability.

Collaboration: Partnered with Ginger and Finch to leverage their market insights and combined expertise in design and manufacturing, aiming to highlight Australian craftsmanship.

“I worked with Billy on a bespoke stemless wine glass project. I wanted the glassware to be designed and made in Australia and I was impressed by Billy’s passion for Australian manufacturing. Billy guided me throughout the design process, patiently interpreting my vague ideas into concrete designs. I loved what we came up with, but unfortunately the manufacturing price point was a little prohibitive to roll-out the product.

If you’re after a talented designer and maker to bring your dream glassware products to life, Billy’s your guy!”
